About The Position

Allnorth is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student for an 8-month co-op term to join our team in either our Nanaimo or Vancouver, BC office. This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering student looking to gain hands-on experience within a multidisciplinary engineering consulting environment. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and designers while supporting real-world industrial and engineering projects. You’ll be exposed to different stages of project delivery and gain practical experience that builds on what you’ve learned in the classroom. If you're eager to learn, ask questions and contribute as part of a collaborative engineering team, we want to hear from you.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering degree program at a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Eligibility to complete an 8-month co-op work term
  • Strong willingness to learn and contribute within a team environment
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a professional environment
  • Interest in engineering consulting and industrial projects
  • Willingness to participate in site visits or field work as required
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol test

Nice To Haves

  • Valid driver's licence is considered an asset
  • Previous engineering, technical, construction or related experience is considered an asset, but is not required

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Mechanical Engineers and Designers with engineering design and project deliverables
  • Supporting the preparation of calculations, technical documentation, reports and specifications
  • Assisting with equipment selection, layouts and other mechanical design activities
  • Supporting the development and review of drawings and engineering documentation
  • Gathering and organizing technical information and project data
  • Participating in project meetings and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Assisting with field reviews, site visits and data collection as required
  • Supporting project coordination and other technical activities throughout various stages of project delivery
  • Applying engineering principles and classroom knowledge to practical, real-world project challenges
