This co-op position involves assisting a full-time Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical engineering expertise in the area of mechanical design, simulation analysis, or engineering testing procedures. The role will assist in the design and development of innovative forklifts and material handling equipment, focusing on one of the following areas: Mechanical Design: Create layouts of proposed designs ensuring functionality, safety, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and aesthetic and ergonomic correctness. Select appropriate materials, organize bill of materials data, and approve detail drawings. Simulation Analysis: Perform structural or stability analysis of proposed or existing product, structure, or component designs to ensure design goals are met. Analyze failed structures or components to determine probable causes of failure. Perform basic load and stress calculations and conduct analysis using finite element analysis and fatigue life prediction tools. Testing Procedures: Identify commonly used concepts, methods, and procedures for the detailed development and analysis of experimental and standardized tests for new and modified products or components. Devise and apply validation procedures for components and systems under development. Evaluate new components and technologies.
