About The Position

This co-op placement offers a hands-on opportunity for an engineering student to gain practical experience in a manufacturing environment. The role involves reviewing technical documentation, analyzing engineering drawings, and contributing to the quality and inspection processes. The co-op student will work closely with various teams, including manufacturing, quality, and inspection, to ensure the accurate verification of part requirements and to identify areas for process improvement.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical program.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (CATIA preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and communicate findings clearly.
  • Comfortable working with cross-functional teams (quality, inspection, manufacturing).

Responsibilities

  • Review manufacturing plans, engineering drawings, and CATIA models to understand part requirements.
  • Analyze drawings and create detailed inspection plans based on specifications and critical features.
  • Support updates to HDR in collaboration with the Final Inspection team.
  • Work with CMM inspectors to review and update CMM inspection criteria and measurement requirements.
  • Compare design intent with inspection methods to ensure proper verification of key characteristics.
  • Identify gaps or inconsistencies between drawings, models, and inspection processes.
  • Assist in standardizing inspection documentation and improving clarity of inspection requirements.
  • Participate in team discussions and provide input on quality and inspection improvements.
