About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Mechanical Engineer-In-Training with 2+ years of experience to join the Orlando, Florida (FL) office's MEP team. This role involves utilizing technical software to analyze, produce, and quality control deliverables for clients. The engineer will solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines. A key aspect of the role is developing familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and client’s practices, procedures, and standards. The position will perform general mechanical engineering tasks supporting various project managers, specifically focusing on large-scale HVAC design for the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing team. Project types may include Airports, Facilities, and Universities.

Requirements

• 2+ years experience in a similar mechanical engineering role
• An ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in Mechanical Engineering
• EIT/EI certification or have the ability to obtain certification
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Ability to apply technical skills to meet project demands and solve problems for our clients
• Positive attitude and an impressive work ethic
• Clear sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines
• Attention to details and ability to contribute to a positive work environment
• Passion and demonstrated drive to achieve goals

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, and/or SolidWorks

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Perform general mechanical engineering tasks supporting various project managers as required.
• Support our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing team specifically working on large scale HVAC design.
