About The Position

This is a mechanical design engineering position with an emphasis on engineering design of complex medical instruments. This individual will collaborate with R&D engineering staff to design, document, prototype, and test complex medical instruments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 2 years of professional experience in designing mechanical systems, equipment, and/or components.
  • Mechanical CAD for 3D Modeling and Drawings (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Dimensioning Standards (ASME Y14.5 preferred).
  • Experience mechanical engineering and prototype design.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing mechanical components and/or systems for new product development.
  • Experience designing parts that use common manufacturing methods and materials, such as injection-molded plastic, machining, and sheet metal.
  • Design in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
  • Design for Manufacturability.
  • PDM systems (Windchill preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the definition, proof of concept, design, development, implementation and/or support of technical or business solutions by performing specific research activities or developments within the scope of the assigned activity.
  • Assumes responsibility for the identification of errors and related problem solving in order to identify the necessary activities to provide a solution.
  • Develops all deliverables following all design and development processes for design control and good scientific practices to ensure scientific relevance.
  • Creates appropriate documentation of assigned activities and prepares summaries and/or other relevant reports within the function.
  • Defines priorities within the scope of the assigned activities to ensure timeliness and quality of project(s) the level involved in.
  • Provides assistance for the scope of assigned activities to ensure milestones are met.
  • Provides technical support to the organization in new functional approaches, methods, and tools.
  • Provides support to Verification activities.
  • Actively participates in Design Transfer processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
