About The Position

Salas O’Brien is seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer for their Nashville office to join a multidisciplined design team within the Industrial Power and Process division. This role will focus on large utility generation/distribution systems and industrial process/manufacturing facilities, and will also involve business development, marketing, and project management duties. Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited school.
  • Knowledge of engineering theories and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of project approach and system design.
  • Willingness to build and maintain relationships with clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Mechanical Engineer
  • Professional Engineers (PE) license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Design steam systems, hydronic systems, gas compression and distribution systems, and building mechanical systems.
  • Develop site and facility arrangements and general process or industrial facility projects.
  • Design power generation facilities.
  • Develop drawing and specification packages for Design Build and Design-Bid-Build projects.
  • Assist Project Management team with coordination of other disciplines.
  • Deal directly with clients to establish project schedules and expectations.
  • Coordinate other disciplines to ensure project deliverables are coordinated for constructability.
  • Manage, direct, and supervise mechanical engineering staff to meet project schedules and budget goals.
  • Apply applicable codes.
  • Supplement Salas O’Brien design standards and administrative procedures.
  • Assist team leader in manpower projections and scheduling of work.
  • Assist team leader in maintaining and developing client base through business development efforts.
  • Assist market segment manager and team leader in preparing RFP type proposal responses, including project write-ups, resumes, and fee developments.
  • Take an active lead in the proposal for work process.
  • Identify prospective clients and work with team leader to establish client relationships.
  • Identify new opportunities with synergistic benefits to existing business.
