About The Position

Boston Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This role involves the mechanical engineering design and development of innovative products from concept through production. The engineer will design, build, and test proof-of-concept models, breadboards, prototypes, and production-ready designs. Responsibilities include applying expertise in motion systems, motion controls, robotics, and precision electromechanical design, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and utilizing Creo and/or SolidWorks for design and documentation. The position also requires performing engineering analyses, developing product specifications, creating design documentation, applying DFM/DFA principles, supporting proposal development, contributing to rapid prototyping, and ensuring compliance with the company's Quality Management System.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience focused on new product development
  • Demonstrated success bringing complex products from concept through manufacturing
  • Experience designing high-precision electromechanical systems
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and prototype development
  • Experience designing products for underwater or marine environments
  • Proficiency with Creo and/or SolidWorks
  • Experience developing products that integrate mechanical, electrical, and software systems
  • Strong understanding of DFM, DFA, design for cost, and reliability engineering
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Previous experience working within an engineering services or product development consulting environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • US persons (i.e., US citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 USC 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology
  • Submitted writing sample

  • Familiarity with Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) programs is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical engineering design and development of innovative products from concept through production

  • Ensure compliance with Boston Engineering's Quality Management System and engineering best practices
