About The Position

GRVTY is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to support the ongoing development of our Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) family of vehicles and advanced navigation products. In this role you will develop mechanical solutions for enclosures, sensors, payloads, and structural elements. This role works within a multidisciplinary team developing components that must withstand challenging maritime environments, including high pressure, corrosive exposure, and dynamic loading. You will contribute to both new developments and adaptations to existing designs. You will join a team of dedicated engineers and scientists who are pushing the boundaries of maritime technology to deliver exceptional products and capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
  • 8+ years of professional mechanical engineering design experience on complex hardware/software systems
  • Extensive experience with SolidWorks CAD tool (or similar)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as machining, composite fabrication, or additive manufacturing
  • Experience with DFMA principles, FEA tools, and design standards
  • Strong ability to produce clear, well-organized technical documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to technical and customer audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with underwater vehicles, robotics, or maritime/defense systems
  • Active DoD clearance

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for enclosures, mounting structures, sensor integration, cabling, electronics packaging, and integration of customer payloads.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and documentation compliant with internal and external standards.
  • Lead integration of mechanical systems with electrical, software, and payload components.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are producible, cost-effective, and compliant with quality standards.
  • Participate in assembly, integration, and test activities, including at-sea tests and environmental testing.
  • Lead author on reports/papers and presents work at meetings when appropriate
  • Contribute to configuration management, change control, and engineering review
