SLSS Mechanical Engineer

SLB•Houston, TX

About The Position

This role involves conducting engineering activities for Well Access products, ensuring delivery within budget and timelines. The engineer will provide technical guidance for innovative and cost-effective solutions, resolve operational issues, and identify technology development opportunities to improve efficiency and safety. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with industry standards, mentoring junior engineers, and creating training materials. The role also encompasses analyzing, designing, developing, and sustaining assets/products/kits, particularly intervention equipment, with a focus on independent work. This includes generating system engineering documents, providing operational support, defining engineering work scopes, and contributing to operational efficiency through templates and procedures. The engineer will also conduct structural analysis, analytical calculations, and computational models, lead technical projects, and contribute to industry standards such as ISO 13628-7, ISO 13625-5, API 6A, API 17G, and API 5CT. Generating verification and validation procedures, interfacing with manufacturing, providing progress updates, and authoring technical reports are also key aspects. Mentoring and training are integral to the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor, Masters , & PHD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or similar
  • 4-6 years' experience with emphasis in product design/development
  • Prior experience working with analytical and computational packages (eg. Finite Element Analysis package, CAD packages)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in well intervention equipment and/or operations is a plus
  • Subsea, Oil & Gas, Pressure vessels.
