About The Position

This employee researches and designs components and mechanical systems for Ditch Witch® products. He or she uses CAD equipment to create or modify model files of machine components and systems and works closely with various component suppliers and other engineers that have mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic responsibilities. This employee directs the work of drafters/illustrators, layout personnel, and technicians, and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or closely related engineering field.
Experience with CAD software and solid modeling.
Interest in mobile equipment design and operations.

Nice To Haves

Engineer III, minimum of 5+ years of experience in a product design or related engineering role.
Engineer II, minimum 2-4 years of experience.
Engineer I, 0-2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

Analyze product specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which provide a good balance of performance, functionality, cost and ease of manufacture.
Direct and physically participate when needed in the construction & testing of prototypes to evaluate the design & functionality of the product.
Solicit and evaluate input from various sources concerning product design and functionality to meet project and customer requirements and manufacturability of product designs.
Review product design for compliance with standard engineering practices, company and industry standards, customer contact requirements, and related specifications.
Create, maintain, and/or direct the creation/maintenance of essential design information and documentation including models, drafts, schematics, and purchased part documentation as well as supporting technical publications.
Provide solutions to complex and challenging issues while balancing workload among multiple projects and priorities.
