About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer will support design, testing, and construction efforts for the Los Angeles, Ohio, Seawolf, Virginia, and Columbia classes of submarines. The work includes conducting internal audits and training; developing Design Review Procedure booklets, class and ship design reports, class SUBSAFE test form certification lists, and sea-trial certification booklets and SUBSAFE certification audit plans; reviewing submarine safety certification boundary books; and monitoring SUBSAFE deviations and waivers. For shock vehicle test programs, the engineer supports the concept, design, procurement, fabrication, and installation of equipment in underwater shock test vehicles. The programs support test operations at a government shock test site and document test results. For fastener engineering, the engineer addresses fastener issues associated with design and construction and provides guidance on calculation methods, drawing and specification requirements, and fastener applications, including whole-ship and company fastener issues.
