About The Position

ReLogic Research, Inc. is seeking a self-starting and highly-motivated individual to join our team. ReLogic’s central focus is to continually promote a culture that stimulates personal, professional, and intellectual growth, while developing elegant solutions to tough problems. We encourage teammates to be self-governing based on high standards of professionalism and judgement. This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong design component. You’ll operate and apply advanced 3D scanning systems, produce high-quality CAD models from scan data, and support mechanical design projects from concept through fabrication. Day-to-day work spans digital measurement, reverse engineering, and design of tooling and hardware with direct impact on customer deliverables. 3D Scanning & Optical Metrology: Operate structured-light, laser, and photogrammetry scanners (Smarttech3D, ATOS, Hexagon, Leica) to capture detailed 3D geometry of components and assemblies Perform Digital Image Correlation (DIC) data capture on hardware and material tests Conduct dimensional inspections using Control X and GOM Inspect, applying GD&T best practices to verify part conformance CAD Modeling & Reverse Engineering: Build parametric and surface 3D models in Geomagic Design X and Geomagic Wrap, working from scan data to reconstruct design intent or meet customer specifications Produce engineering drawings and system schematics from scan-derived models Collaborate with the design team to validate and refine models for downstream manufacturing use Mechanical Design & Fabrication Support: Design tooling, fixtures, prototype hardware, and system assemblies — from sketch through CAD to fabricated part Perform analyses to support and substantiate design approaches Develop and optimize inspection and scanning workflows tailored to customer hardware and requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 2–5+ years of experience in mechanical design, metrology, quality inspection, or 3D scanning applications
  • Hands-on experience with 3D scanning technology (structured light, laser scanning, or photogrammetry)
  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred; CATIA, NX, or similar also considered)
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and ability to read and create engineering drawings
  • Experience with metrology or inspection software (Geomagic, PolyWorks, or similar)
  • Self-starter who can manage projects independently and communicate progress clearly
  • Comfortable working with customers on-site to understand requirements and demonstrate solutions
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to solve tough problems
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25–50% for on-site support, demos, and customer engagement
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or industrial equipment is a strong plus
  • Experience with reverse engineering workflows and scan-to-CAD processes
  • Familiarity with automation or robotic scanning systems
  • Basic programming or scripting (Python, MATLAB, or similar) for workflow automation
