About The Position

Responsible for Mechanical Engineering responsibilities of a given project including system design, project planning, development and tracking of budgets, customer interface, and establishing and monitoring schedules. The role involves designing and developing electro-mechanical and/or material handling systems using linear actuators, servo motors, and conveyors in accordance with National codes and standards. This includes creating and modifying concept drawings, detailed designs, assembly and fabrication drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals. The engineer will generate 2D and 3D designs using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD/Inventor, interact with the sales team for system proposals and scope review, and collaborate with a cross-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical, software, imaging) to design integrated system solutions for worldwide customers. The position requires writing design specifications for equipment purchases, producing design calculations, and traveling to customer sites worldwide for discussions, kick-off meetings, installations, and troubleshooting. Travel to sister facilities and customer sites within the US and internationally (India, China, Europe) is also expected.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of Electro-mechanical and/or mechanical systems design experience.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expertise in 3D CAD tools. SolidWorks strongly preferred; AutoCad acceptable.
  • Prior experience in a QA controlled design environment. (ISO 9000, NQA-1, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic controls.
  • Experience sizing motors to move thousand pound+ objects.
  • Familiarity with motion control products and standard motor/gearbox components.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude and problem solving abilities.
  • Must be highly organized and self motivated.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work in a fast paced team oriented environment.
  • Experience with machine tooling disciplines and techniques desirable.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project preferred, Primavera).
  • X-ray imaging system experience a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity in the fundamentals of Ethernet and networking.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with a cross-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical, software, imaging) to review, define, and design integrated system solutions to meet requirements of worldwide customers.
  • Write design specifications for the purchase of equipment.
  • Produce design calculations to verify design.
  • Travel to customer sites worldwide to participate in concept and technical discussions, kick off meetings, oversee installations, or trouble shoot.
  • Potential travel to sister facilities and customer sites within the US and in India, China and Europe to work with team on current or future projects, as required.
