About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Mechanical Engineer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. This role involves supporting facility engineering as a field/system engineer for operations, maintenance, and testing of assigned systems. The engineer will be responsible for designing, upgrading, and evaluating facility systems and components, including reviewing and approving design changes. A key aspect of the role is ensuring system operations remain within the safety basis, operating limits, and regulatory requirements in a nuclear facility. The position requires performing hazard analyses, engineering evaluations, and technical calculations to assess system performance and safety, as well as reviewing plant configuration changes for their impact on design, safety basis, and operational procedures. The engineer will also develop engineering reports, system health assessments, root cause analyses, and design studies to support decision-making. Responsibilities include resolving engineering-related corrective actions and deficiencies through formal tracking systems and maintaining alignment of drawings, procedures, and technical documents with system design, configuration, and safety basis. Conducting field walk-downs and inspections to verify system condition and compliance is also a core duty.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of five (5) to twenty (20) years’ experience related to engineering discipline (mechanical) and/or field/system engineering.
• Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as International Building Code (IBC), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) (ASD and LRFD), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), ACI, AWS, NFPA, and AWWA.
• Nuclear, chemical or wastewater facility experience.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge of NQA-1 requirements applicable to specifications and design.
• Previous SRS or another DOE site experience.
• Working knowledge of 10 CFR 830

Responsibilities
