About The Position

McLaurin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for its JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The role supports NASA deep-space exploration efforts by developing and delivering engineering systems and solutions for facility and test-chamber needs. The position works collaboratively with customers, designers, stress engineers, drawing checkers, technicians, NASA Pressure Systems, and other project stakeholders. The Mechanical Engineer analyzes customer requirements and develops design solutions; designs, develops, tests, implements, and analyzes technical products and systems; and performs engineering designs and evaluations for thermal-vacuum space-simulation testing. The engineer prepares compliant engineering drawings, work-authorizing documents, specifications, statements of work, estimates, and project schedules. Duties also include coordinating procurement, inspection, fabrication, and installation activities; maintaining configuration control; troubleshooting facility systems and components; and directing technicians during installation or fabrication. Shift work may be required to cover test operations.
