Mechanical Engineer I or II

Custom Manufacturing and Engineering•Pinellas Park, FL
•$65,000 - $68,000

About The Position

Custom Manufacturing & Engineering (CME) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I or II to support the design, development, testing, and production of mechanical and electro-mechanical products used in aerospace, defense, industrial, and energy applications. This hands-on early-career role is suited to an engineer who enjoys solving design problems, collaborating across disciplines, and guiding products from concept through manufacturing. The engineer will design mechanical parts, assemblies, enclosures, and electro-mechanical systems; create and maintain 3D models, drawings, bills of material, and engineering documentation; and apply manufacturing, materials, tolerancing, GD&T, and DFM/DFA principles. The role supports prototype builds, testing, qualification, production, troubleshooting, engineering changes, configuration control, and technical documentation. It also involves collaboration with electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers, as well as research into components, materials, and design alternatives. Environmental and qualification testing may include applicable MIL-STD requirements. CME describes an environment where engineers work with real hardware and mission-critical aerospace and defense applications, gain experience across design, simulation, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, manufacturing, and production, and work with experienced engineers and cross-functional technical teams. The position offers opportunities to develop broad engineering capabilities and take on increasing technical responsibility. Most weeks include a four-day workweek. The position is based in the Tampa Bay area. Access to export-controlled goods, technology, or technical data may be required, in which case applicants must meet applicable U.S. Person requirements.
