At JBT Marel, we're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design, test, and evaluate mechanical systems for food equipment machinery. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to define customer needs, develop new features, and ensure designs meet specifications. Key responsibilities include CAD layouts, DFMEA, cost estimations, and solving mechanical field problems. You'll also collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, and suppliers to optimize the cost/value relationship of our designs. This position is located within Kingston, NY. Must live within a commutable distance to the facility. Onsite position with flexibility to work from home 2 days per week once fully oriented and performing in the role.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Proficiency in CAD systems such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo, or similar.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude through hands-on experience in design, testing, or troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and product development processes.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and engineering principles to solve complex problems.
  • Familiarity with lifecycle management of design data, including CAD models, drawings, and ECNs.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Must possess independent problem-solving skills and the ability to work creatively.
  • Normal working conditions are in an office environment, with provisions for flexible hours and remote work.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing, vendor, and customer facilities, utilizing appropriate PPE for the tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: 5+ years of experience in automatic, industrial food processing equipment or similar fields in product development.

Responsibilities

  • Lifecycle Management of Design Data (65%): Create, review, and update engineering drawings, CAD models, and ECNs. Oversee database management to ensure all design data is accurate, organized, and accessible for future reference and manufacturing needs.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams (10%): Work closely with internal teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and can be sourced efficiently, optimizing both cost and value. Collaborate with sales, applications, and manufacturing to align designs with practical and business requirements.
  • Technical Support in Testing, Validation, and Debugging (10%): Provide technical expertise in the testing, validation, and troubleshooting of food equipment machinery. Support the debugging process to ensure equipment meets performance and quality standards.
  • Detailed Calculations for Design and Troubleshooting (10%): Perform detailed mechanical calculations to support design decisions and contribute to problem-solving during the troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
  • Project Support (5%): Assist with budgeting, scoping, and scheduling for various projects. Ensure all project milestones are met within the designated timelines and budget constraints.
