About The Position

Established multi-disciplined consulting firm is looking to add a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to their Milwaukee, Wisconsin team! This role involves leading the mechanical system design for a variety of building types, including K-12 and public-sector projects. The engineer will be the primary contact for these projects, collaborating with other disciplines, coordinating with external agencies, and potentially participating in public meetings. Responsibilities include designing HVAC, ventilation, energy recovery, and plumbing systems, performing detailed analyses, and developing construction documents using industry-standard software. The position also involves providing cost estimates, reviewing designs, responding to RFIs, and supporting construction-phase services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical building systems design
  • PE License
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (IECC, IBC, ASHRAE 90.1, 62.1, and plumbing codes)
  • Proficient with Revit, Bluebeam, and mechanical system modeling/selections tools
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with K-12 and/or municipal building projects preferred
  • LEED AP, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or related credentials preferred

Responsibilities

  • Primary engineering contact for architectural K-12 and public-sector projects
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into building designs
  • Coordinate with utilities, permitting agencies, and code authorities to secure timely approvals
  • Participate in public and board meetings as needed for school and municipal projects
  • Mentor/train junior staff
  • Lead mechanical system design for a variety of building types (HVAC systems, ventilation and energy recovery systems, building automation and controls integration)
  • Design of domestic water, sanitary, and storm plumbing systems
  • Conduct load calculations, equipment sizing, pressure loss analysis, and energy modeling
  • Develop detailed construction drawings and specifications using Revit, AutoCAD, and other design tools
  • Stamp and certify mechanical construction documents in support of permit submittments and construction
  • Review designs, respond to RFIs, and support construction-phase services
  • Provide accurate cost estimates and support scope development for new projects/proposals
  • Ensure QA/QC procedures are followed
