About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join the St. Pete, Florida (FL) office. This is not a remote position. The role involves project management in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities, including overseeing HVAC design from concept to completion, continuous interface with design teams and clients, and writing responses to Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications. The position also includes mentoring and coordinating the work of designers and technical staff, and managing tasks under minimal supervision. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of engineers and designers on a variety of projects, fostering both internal and external professional relationships and collaborating with industry professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Proven design experience with comfort and HVAC systems and related controls
  • Proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas
  • Experience producing engineering and energy studies including comcheck, Title 24
  • Experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects
  • Able to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability
  • Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in AutoCAD and Revit is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the HVAC design of projects from concept to completion, including continuous interface with the design team and clients.
  • Write responses to Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications for various clients and marketing opportunities.
  • Mentor and coordinate the work of designers and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects.
  • Manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other industry leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors.
