About The Position

KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities. In this position, your work will have a profound impact on the country’s most critical role – protecting our national security. KBR was selected to support the US Space Force/Air Force Research Laboratory’s ASTRO (Advanced Space Technology Research and Optimization) contract to provide mission equipment operations, maintenance, and upgrades to the USSF’s AMOS site in Maui, Hawaii. The AMOS site plays a vital role in national security by monitoring man-made objects in space and continuously developing next-generation capabilities to keep pace with an increasingly congested and contested space domain. This presents an incredible opportunity to push the boundaries of space and telescope technologies and have a direct impact on the USSF mission. Works with other AMOS Engineers to devise improvements and upgrades to increase mission readiness and effectiveness. Duties include working with an Engineering team to resolve problems with site equipment, as well as developing solutions to improve mission readiness and effectiveness of Site equipment. Conducts work requiring evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice and complex features such as conflicting design requirements and effective coordination requirements. Works with other Site Engineers to plan, schedule, and conduct work using standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Assists with preparing requirements for custom equipment OEMs, as well as coordinating with and integrating work from multiple AMOS Stakeholders. Position requires the ability to work with the Engineering team to develop and implement test plans and procedures for data collection and analysis to validate and verify system requirements are met. This Mechanical Engineer takes a holistic approach to developing solutions, working with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance staff to identify integrated HW/SW solutions that meet the Government’s needs. Additional responsibilities may include mentoring less experienced staff and assisting staff in identifying solutions to improve quality of services provided. This Mechanical Engineer is a disciplined self-starter with strong organizational, time management, comprehension, and communication skills.
