About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineer for IQSIGHT LLC, you will design and develop complex electromechanical systems for next generation moving camera products. You will serve as a technical resource on development projects, making critical architecture, design and risk decisions. This role involves performing hands-on mechanical and electromechanical subsystem design from concept through series production, acting as an engineer on development projects within a small team, and driving technical execution. You will develop subsystem architectures that meet system-level requirements for performance, cost, reliability, serviceability, and time-to-market. Additionally, you will participate in cross-functional design reviews and technical risk assessments (FMEA, Focus Area Matrices) and work with senior technical staff in developing key architectures for the future of the portfolio. Operational responsibilities include supporting lifecycle management efforts such as EOL, cost reduction, and field complaint investigations, maintaining complex BOM structures for multiple product variants, and partnering with international suppliers on tooling development, DFM reviews, and process validation. You will work in a culture of continuous improvement with regular retrospectives and support the team in risk management and mitigation strategies. Specific design tasks include designing, modeling, and validating complex mechanical assemblies and mechanisms, supporting PCBA packaging, enclosure design, and thermal management strategies, and developing and validating prototypes through simulation and physical testing. You will also perform tolerance analysis, GD&T definition, and design for manufacturability and reliability, while implementing designs considering global environment, regulatory, and compliance requirements. In terms of people development, you will mentor and support the development of early-career engineers and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure system-level integration and success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in electromechanical product development, including products released to series production
  • Demonstrated experience designing mechatronic systems integrating mechanical and electronic hardware
  • Experience as an engineer, planning, directing and checking the activities of junior colleagues
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to distill complex technical topics into actionable decisions

Nice To Haves

  • MCAD/ECAD fluency [Creo Preferred]
  • Thermal and structural simulation (static & dynamic)
  • Experience designing for global compliance and environmental requirements
  • GD&T (ISO and ASME)
  • Design for vibration, shock and reliability
  • Design experience with multiple materials: sheet-metal, die-casting, plastic injection molding (optical and structural), CNC machining, and die-cutting
  • Experience with optics, including lens design for illuminators
  • Experience with basic machine shop equipment
  • Knowledge of integrating AI tools into engineering tasks
  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving activities employing tools such as 8D & CAR.
  • Quality certification: ASQ DFSS Greenbelt or similar.
