About The Position

The Buildings and Facilities group in Vancouver & Calgary provide mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings. The office is a high energy workspace where team members work closely to meet client requirements and deadlines. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work with the AtkinsRéalis Mechanical Engineering Design Group to provide detailed engineering for building services projects for commercial, institutional, and industrial clients.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with EGBC or APEGA.
  • 2-6 years of relevant building systems design experience.
  • Strong desire to grow their career in Buildings Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must have experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for buildings, including utilization of applicable codes, standards, and design tools.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to develop a solution and be able to communicate it effectively with teammates, other disciplines, subcontractors, project managers, and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage mechanical engineering design deliverables for assigned projects, including investigations, report writing, design, and construction administration.
  • Support business development activities for the mechanical engineering group in Vancouver.
  • Support developing, monitoring, and maintaining project schedule and budget for mechanical engineering design deliverables.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency, accuracy, and neatness of mechanical engineering and deliverables as part of the corporate QA/QC program.
  • Perform site investigations safely, including travelling to site (including driving), walking around construction sites, carrying a ladder or other items (approximately 35lbs) around site and climbing ladders to access ceiling space, lowering oneself to observe mechanical services low to the ground, and committing to safety regulations and requirements.
  • Participate in local and corporate industry initiatives to positively advance both technical and market developments.
  • Use software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP, and Microsoft Office to prepare deliverables as required.
