About The Position

The Core Assembly engineering group within NNL's Core Manufacturing organization is seeking an engineer or scientist to provide technical oversight of nuclear reactor core component manufacturing. This team provides engineering leadership and production insight for the NIMITZ, VIRGINIA, FORD, and COLUMBIA-class programs. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the production of critical reactor core components through frequent collaboration with design and materials engineering organizations, manufacturing partners, and government stakeholders. The Intermediate Engineer will support technical issue resolution and drive production process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently an Intermediate Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
  • All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
  • All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight and direction for the manufacture of reactor core components.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering organizations, manufacturing partners, and government stakeholders to ensure successful, on time delivery of reactor core components.
  • Monitor production progress, help identify risks or emerging issues, and contribute to process and quality improvement activities.
  • Develop and support technical plans, qualification activities, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical issues and support routine engineering tasks.
  • Participate in the evaluation and implementation of technical requirements, design changes, and contract changes.
  • Support initiatives led by partner engineering organizations and contribute to cross organizational improvement efforts.
  • Perform occasional travel to supplier facilities to support issue resolution, production readiness, and technical reviews.
