About The Position

At World View, we strive to be a responsible technology leader in the collection, analysis, and delivery of actionable information gathered by our strategically placed arrays of persistent sensors in the stratosphere. We provide on-demand, scheduled, and historical aerial data and analytics from sensors deployed to the stratosphere with persistent coverage, higher resolution, and increased value over traditional aerial and space imagery sources. The Mechanical Engineer will work on the design of new and existing high-altitude balloons, stratocraft, launch equipment, and other subsystems.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4+ years of Mechanical Design Experience
  • Solid understanding of structural design and analysis using hand calcs and SolidWorks Simulation
  • Use of Design for Manufacture and Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA)
  • Strong understanding of GD&T
  • Working knowledge of ASME standards
  • Proficient in the use of Mechanical Design programs such as SolidWorks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Aerospace materials
  • Experience with high altitude balloon design
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Work cross functionally with Engineering and Design teams to develop new and existing products
  • Reviews design specifications and project requirements
  • Evaluates performance issues through troubleshooting and failure investigation
  • Creates detailed design schematics through the use of design software
  • Field testing flight hardware with assistance from the operations team
