About The Position

Aquatech is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Canonsburg, PA. This role involves performing mechanical engineering tasks related to pressure vessels and piping, ensuring compliance with various industry codes and standards. The engineer will also be responsible for directing drafters, reviewing technical documents, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be creative, possess strong communication and problem-solving skills, and be team-oriented and customer-service oriented.

Requirements

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
0-2 years of experience in engineering role(s)
Knowledge of piping codes ASME B31.1 / 31.3.
Knowledge of Plant engineering - Layout considerations and piping layouts.
Knowledge (or awareness) of ASME, ANSI, and AWWA codes for pressure vessels, tanks & structural design codes.
Knowledge of hydraulic flow, pressure loss concepts in pipelines, and open channel flows
Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel-based spreadsheets.

Nice To Haves

Exposure to water treatment & wastewater treatment processes would be a plus.
Exposure to CAD software (AutoCAD 2D/ Plant 3D preferred).

Responsibilities

Perform pressure vessel mechanical engineering to meet ASME Section VIII, Division 1 Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code requirements.
Perform pressure vessel mechanical engineering to meet international codes as required for each project.
Utilize Finite Element Analysis for non-cylindrical vessel engineering, vessel support engineering, and review of stress concentrations.
Direct AutoCAD vessel drafters in creating vessel drawings (dimensional, fabrication, plate maps, tolerance, transportation, etc.).
Review and approve all vessel drawings, calculations, and datasheets.
Create vessel bills of material, datasheets, and specifications for material purchases.
Review proposal specifications to determine exceptions and clarifications for project bids based on Aquatech vessel standards.
Develop vessel standards and drawings for standard Aquatech products.
Participate in quality improvements through IDEA Cycle and Lessons Learned initiatives.
Review welding procedures (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR) for carbon steel and stainless steel alloys.
Solve vessel fabrication, quality, and corrosion issues.
Engineer piping and ducting to meet ASME B31.1 or ASME B31.3 requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
