Requirements

  • Bachelors, Masters or PHD in Mechanical Engineering or Physics from an accredited University.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Training in SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge in Engineering & Technology – Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge in Mathematics – Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Knowledge in Design – Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge in Production & Processing – Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and company codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work at a highly motivated level with a sense of urgency and dedication to accomplishing tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to type on computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
  • Experience with conflict resolution.
  • Experience with problem solving.
  • Experience with prioritizing and executing multiple projects.
  • Demonstrate a working experience of mechanisms, materials, CAD modeling and manufacturing processes.
  • Must be proficient in use of a personal computer, laptops, tablets, smartphone, printer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications and data entry.
  • Must successfully pass any pre-screening test(s).

Responsibilities

  • Designing parts in materials such as Aluminum Extrusions, Diecast parts, Plastic parts, Sheet metal parts.
  • Creating and modifying Production Documentation, including Assembly drawings (Solid works), Bill of materials (Oracle E1), Item masters in our Inventory system (Oracle E1), and Part drawings (Solid works).
  • Working as a team in defining the DFMEA.
  • Utilizing a combination of simulation tools and real-life testing.
  • Coordinating testing at outside vendors when needed.
  • Working with inside resources for simulations when needed.
  • Working independently or as a team in defining the test plan.
  • 3D printing samples for interim approval.
  • As needed, designing and printing fixtures for production.
  • Problem solving field failures or internal faults.
  • Ensuring and maintaining the quality guidelines, procedures, and standards are consistently followed throughout the manufacturing operation.
  • Systematically deconstructing problems with engineering rigor using structured problem solving approaches and quantitative analysis.
  • Performing predictive simulations using software tools (FEA, CFD).
  • Performing concept work with CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
  • Visually articulating complex designs.
  • Communicating intricate engineering concepts with non-technical customers or internal stakeholders.
  • Working with the Grote Product Management team to translate market requirements into design features.
  • Creating prototypes of various efficacies to demonstrate major product characteristics.
  • Creating engineering components for future lighting concepts from within cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Working with CAD operators efficiently to generate detailed designs and drawings for manufacturing.
  • Following any other instructions and performing any other duties as requested by supervisor.
