About The Position

Mechanical Engineers at LaFrance Corp are hired as Project Managers, giving early-career engineers the opportunity to take ownership of customer programs from pre-production and design for manufacturing through full-scale production. In this role, you will manage global customer programs ranging from $10,000 to $1 million in annual sales. You will work across engineering, manufacturing, commercial teams, suppliers, and customers to turn aesthetic and performance requirements into practical, production-ready solutions. Daily collaboration with colleagues and customers in the United States and China is central to keeping programs aligned and moving forward.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 0-3 years of experience as a mechanical, process, quality, or manufacturing engineer; relevant co-op and internship experience is included.
  • Working knowledge of ProE and AutoCAD software.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects through timely completion.
  • Ability to work effectively across teams and departments, including Sales, Marketing, and Accounting.
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to visualize desired outcomes and drive work toward results.
  • Ability to travel to LaFrance production facilities in China as required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage global customer programs ranging from $10,000 to $1 million in annual sales from pre-production through full-scale production.
  • Evaluate product and manufacturing feasibility and recommend modifications needed to meet aesthetic and performance specifications.
  • Design process flows that support efficient, repeatable manufacturing.
  • Support vendor selection and lead vendor negotiations for assigned programs.
  • Develop product costing to support program planning and decision-making.
  • Oversee tooling kickoff, pre-production development, component qualification, and production ramp.
  • Collaborate daily with colleagues and customers in the United States and China to maintain alignment, address issues, and support successful program completion.
