About The Position

Noblis MSD is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) in their missions related to research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering. This role will focus on oil pollution abatement in wastewater systems for various U.S. Navy ship programs. The engineer will provide support for Oily Waste Transfer (OWT) systems, Oil Water Separators (OWS), Oil Content Monitors (OCMs), secondary treatment systems (e.g., ceramic membranes), and Non-Oily Wastewater (NOW) systems and equipment. The position involves designing, evaluating, planning, testing, and operating mechanical equipment and systems for military applications. This is a long-term contract position based at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, with opportunities for growth and advancement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Three (3) years of experience in including mechanical/electrical system design, repair, installation, modification, operation, maintenance and testing.
  • US citizen and an active DoD security clearance at SECRET level or the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience with equipment design principles.
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D engineering design & manufacturing tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
  • Experience reviewing models and drawings for manufacturability of parts.
  • Experience with documentation development including drawings, technical manuals (operation, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair), bill of materials.
  • Familiarity military specifications for technical design.

Nice To Haves

  • Shipboard experience Navy or Maritime is a plus.
  • Experience working with detailed specifications under configuration management.
  • Experience interfacing directly with US military technical representatives.
  • Experience working with equipment suppliers and vendors.
  • Shipboard experience as an operator / maintainer is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering, technical, logistics, and obsolescence support to U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army, and Foreign Military Sales ships and vessels related to Oily Waste Transfer (OWT) systems; Oil Water Separators (OWS); Oil Content Monitors (OCMs); and secondary treatment systems such as ceramic membranes; Non-Oily Wastewater (NOW) systems and equipment support.
  • Design, evaluate, plan, test and operate mechanical equipment and systems for commercial, government, military and/or scientific uses.
  • Create mechanical designs and drawings.
  • Write precise calculations.
  • Create and test prototypes for functionality.
  • Re-engineer products when problems are found and recalculate for the return of products to full functionality.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for leadership.
  • Perform obsolescence evaluation and assist with finding replacements.
