About The Position

Tetra Tech is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the construction of a Power Plant Remediation Project (PPRP) at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq. This project addresses critical operational inefficiencies in the facility's power generation rooms, including insufficient airflow and excessive heat buildup. The goal is to optimize air circulation, reduce thermal stress on machinery, and enhance the overall efficiency and sustainability of the power plant, thereby improving operational capacity, extending equipment lifespan, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This is an active position with a minimum commitment of 1 year, and the project is expected to last 24-36 months. Uplifts include Post Differential and Danger Pay.

Requirements

  • US Govt. Secret Clearance or higher
  • US Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Current US PE license can substitute for degree
  • 7 years construction experience
  • ABET accredited international degree accepted in lieu of US Bachelor’s or US PE

Responsibilities

  • Provide the project with the full range of critical engineering, construction quality assurance, and technical oversight.
  • Perform technical inspections of mechanical work.
  • Monitor the construction contractor's quality control program.
  • Review project drawings to ensure compliance.
  • Observe onsite construction and determine if construction elements are being installed, formed, and executed properly.
  • Monitor construction progress with regard to the project schedule.
  • Submit weekly progress reports with recommendations based on technical review of project documents and field inspections.
