About The Position

Allegion is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join their team in a hands-on technical role focused on the design and development of new products and improved mechanical hardware for the commercial and residential markets. This position will support product engineering deliverables, including business case development, concept generation, design development, design analysis, formal documentation, testing, and other assigned engineering tasks. The role is responsible for the design, analysis, development, launch, and maintenance of products while ensuring adherence to engineering schedules. Key responsibilities include translating customer needs into technical specifications, resolving design and development issues, and collaborating effectively in a team setting. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position.

Requirements

  • BSME or BSMET required
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Ability to use design tools including FMEA, Root Causes Analysis, DOE, GD&T, Tol stacks up & DFA

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Creo experience
  • Preferred understanding of common manufacturing processes

Responsibilities

  • Conceive, design, develop and analyze new Mechanical/Electronic door hardware
  • Improve upon current designs by reducing cost and increasing robustness and reliability
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner with all levels of management, customers, vendors, visitors and employees
  • Willingness to spend up to 50% of time in a manufacturing plant environment
  • Self-motivated with ability to establish priorities and effectively manage time to complete multiple tasks within specified timeframes
  • Ability to work independently and/or cooperatively and effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to apply basic problem solving and engineering analysis to complex product and process related issues
  • Communicate project status through reports, presentations and design reviews
  • Work with suppliers to source and evaluate purchased components
  • Work with manufacturing to produce or assemble manufactured components and assemblies
  • Periodic customer contact. May participate in customer presentations
