About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineer you will perform a variety of engineering work in support of design and construction of mechanical power plant equipment, components, systems, for mega-projects or advanced reactors. You will report to the Manager of Auxiliary Equipment & Valve Engineering. This position is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days/week on-site at the Westinghouse Global Headquarters facility in Cranberry Township, PA in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. Relocation is not provided for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with MathCad, MATLAB, or VBA
  • Experience with ASME or API standards
  • Engineer in Training Certification or Professional Engineer License
  • Understanding of technical design drawings and/or fabrication

Responsibilities

  • Develop pump, valve, heat exchanger, or other equipment design requirements for new plant build or modifications.
  • Write specifications and develop designs for auxiliary mechanical equipment for use in a nuclear power plant.
  • Identify problems and propose solutions to projects and tasks that are assigned
  • Support more senior engineering personnel in multiple design and analysis efforts
  • Make sound technical evaluations to support critical engineering decisions
  • Communicate nature and status of work performed to appropriate technical lead and management
  • Collaborate with construction, I&C, electrical, and operations project teams with internal and/or external representation
  • Participate in customer, vendor, and regulator meetings to present technical materials and justification of services and product designs
  • Perform work within established scope, budgetary and schedule requirements
