About The Position

Novelis is a global leader in aluminum recycling and rolling, providing sustainable aluminum solutions. The Novelis Uhrichsville facility is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support equipment reliability, maintenance, and continuous improvement in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting. This role involves providing mechanical engineering expertise to resolve equipment issues, enhance maintenance effectiveness, support capital projects, and ensure equipment reliability to meet production targets. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams to develop practical solutions, implement process improvements, and manage projects with a focus on safety, efficiency, quality, and cost control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Minimum 2-5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
  • Desire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and fostering a collaborative relationship
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of equipment covering all phases of heavy industrial plant engineering, typical of the metals industry.
  • Provide a strong mechanical understanding of process, civil, and electrical components involved in their equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues to meet production needs amidst tight schedules, equipment failures, new equipment start-ups, and new product/process development.
  • Develop practical solutions to repetitive equipment failure problems to improve maintenance effectiveness.
  • Contribute engineering expertise to project work and equipment selection to ensure consistency, standardization, and ease of maintenance.
  • Assist in developing safe, effective, and efficient engineering or maintenance procedures and repair work.
  • Manage multiple projects, efficiency, time, and budgets.
  • Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.
