About The Position

Laitram Machinery, Inc. is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to work with and assist senior engineers on projects. Projects may involve new product development, product improvements, data analysis, manufacturing or service process improvement, and technical support for Manufacturing, Sales, and Service. Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Strong analytical aptitude.

Nice To Haves

Design experience.
Seafood industry experience.
Mill or lathe experience.
Experience in other trades.
3D CAD experience.
Exposure to FEA and CFD.
Demonstrable proficiency with Excel, Matlab, or Mathcad.

Responsibilities

Research components such as bearings and motors.
Perform machine design and structural analysis.
Create 3D CAD designs.
Address bills of materials, product structures, and inventory issues related to design changes.
Specify and assemble prototypes.
Conduct testing and post-process collected data.
Schedule meetings and prepare agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.
Prepare project specifications.
Prepare and monitor project timelines.
Gather input from other departments on proposed design changes.
Administer project check-off lists.
Implement solutions.
Prepare assembly, parts, and operations manuals.
Perform field work, including researching problems and monitoring tests and installations.
