About The Position

Southwest Electric Co., a division of SGB-SMIT Group, is a global transformer manufacturer seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer – Power Transformers. This role will support the design, engineering, and technical execution of medium and large power transformer projects. The position operates independently at the Oklahoma City site while collaborating with colleagues globally within the BU Power Transformers organization. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
3+ years of experience in mechanical design within heavy equipment, transformers, or similar industries.
Strong understanding of structural mechanics and fabrication methods.
Experience with CAD tools and mechanical calculation methods.
Knowledge of relevant industry standards (ASME, IEEE, ANSI).
Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on mindset.

Responsibilities

Design and engineer mechanical components of power transformers including tanks, cores, clamping systems, and accessories.
Perform mechanical calculations related to structural strength, vibration, lifting, and transportation.
Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
Support manufacturing during fabrication and assembly with technical guidance.
Collaborate with electrical engineering to ensure integrated and optimized transformer designs.
Support factory acceptance tests and resolve mechanical non-conformities.
Drive continuous improvement in mechanical design, cost optimization, and manufacturability.
