Mechanical Engineer, Basic

WR SystemsLittle Creek, VA

About The Position

WR has a need for a Mechanical Engineer to assist with the design and development of mechanical systems and technical solutions for shipboard and naval applications. Out at sea, there’s no margin for failure. Naval systems must operate reliably in extreme conditions, constant vibration, high heat, saltwater corrosion, and continuous operational demand. The hardware that supports these missions must be engineered not just to function, but to endure. At WR, we design and deliver the mechanical and electrical systems that protect, support, and enable critical naval technologies. From concept through deployment, our work ensures that mission-critical equipment performs exactly as expected, when it matters most. This role is different because you’re not just designing parts, you’re ensuring systems survive real-world conditions at sea. You’ll work across the full lifecycle: concept → design → analysis → testing → deployment. Your designs will directly support mission readiness and operational reliability. You’ll bridge the gap between engineering design and real-world performance.
