About The Position

The Ground Vehicle Mechanical Engineer shall design, test, and integrate mechanical, automotive, and weapon subsystems for military vehicles and tactical wheeled vehicles. Key responsibilities include creating CAD components, managing technical data packages, and overseeing prototype testing. This role includes working within integrated product development teams to deliver and release designs into the PLM system, support hardware and software integration efforts, and support and execute digital engineering efforts.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
6 to 10+ years of engineering experience, ideally within the defense sector or automotive industry.
U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance are typically mandatory.
Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate complex software and system behaviors in clear technical terms.

Nice To Haves

Active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain one.
Successful experience delivering solutions within the ground combat vehicle or aerospace domains.
Proven ability to develop and mature engineering tools and processes in a growing and challenging environment.
Experience with ground combat vehicle systems, or integrated weapon subsystems.
Background in digital thread/digital twin environments or model‑based software development.
Experience supporting major defense acquisition programs or large‑scale system integrations.

Responsibilities

Develop chassis, structures, APU, physical integration of C4ISR systems, remote weapon stations, turret drive systems, and protective armor integration using CAD tools like Katia.
Handle shock and vibration mounting, fuel systems, hydraulics, and environmental control components.
Support mobility, live-fire, and operational tests to ensure vehicle survivability and reliability.
Review technical data packages using military standards (MIL-STD-31000 and ASME standards).
Prepare and present technical results and recommendations to customers.
Lead technical analysis, testing, and simulations to solve complex engineering problems using specialized equipment or computer modeling.
Prepare technical and cost portions of proposals within your area of expertise.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry practices and trends to advise senior management on new developments.
Participate in Test Incident Reporting and Root Cause Analysis in support of system testing.
Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with company and program safety objectives.
Travel to customer sites, partner facilities, test ranges, and integration events as required.
