About The Position

ASRC Federal Advanced Research (AFAR) “BadgerWorks” Facility, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking a full time Mechanical Engineer to support our government customer programs in Grantsburg, WI. This role is an on-site position. Key Role: Work in a cutting-edge, fast-moving and collaborative matrix engineering environment creating innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical solutions for multiple government and internal projects. Utilize cutting edge Digital tools, such as Creo, Windchill and Nastran Finite Element Analysis tools to work closely with our Sr. Mechanical Engineers, System Engineers, Electronic Engineers and Project Mangers to develop and build complex and innovative solutions to our solve problems and issues for our warfighters’ needs quickly and without compromise.To be able to continually utilize all of the available tools to rapidly develop prototype, including additive manufacturing conventional subtractive manufacturing, advanced fabricating techniques and CNC machine tools, within an AS9100 environment with an emphasis on quality and rapid development.Contribute to absolutely best quality written and verbal reporting on project progress and new or cutting-edge technology with thorough, peer-reviewable documentation and white papers to push the envelope of what is possible in the support of our warfighters and other stakeholders. Establish and exhibit a “can-do” positive attitude with the commitment to our customer, the warfighter, by welcoming challenges for the opportunity to overcome those challenges daily. Constantly exhibit the attitude that is not afraid of failure but instead recognizes it and looks forward to the opportunity to overcome any failure for the good of the warfighter and stakeholders

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent coursework and experience.
  • Coursework and/or experience in Materials Science, Thermodynamics/Heat Transfer, FEA, DFM, and data analysis.
  • Experience with GD&T use and standards.
  • Experience using Creo, Solidworks, or similar high-end solid modeling software.
  • Experience using Windchill or other Configuration Management software platforms.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Techniques, DFM, FMEA, testing, and analysis tools.
  • Must be a US Citizen and meet government contract requirements.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a thorough background check.
  • Ability to travel on occasion.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent experience performing Finite Element Analysis utilizing Nastran or Ansys on complex systems.
  • Familiarity and experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) tools and techniques.
  • Strong Additive Manufacturing experience for design/prototyping and implementation/design practices for product development.
  • Comfort with and willingness to do “bench-level” prototyping and testing, as well as instrumentation, inspection, and qualification procedures.
