About The Position

Boston Government Services (BGS) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support clients at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. BGS is an engineering, technology, and security firm that advances missions of national importance for government programs, national laboratories, national security facilities, nuclear operations, and complex projects. They support clients from strategic planning and program management to engineering and technical activities, focusing on complex, secure, and highly regulated environments. The Y12 National Security Complex is a vital facility within the U.S. Department of Energy’s Nuclear Security Enterprise, providing manufacturing, technical, and scientific expertise for national security initiatives. The role involves supporting major equipment mechanical engineering needs, including estimating, specifying, designing, procuring, and providing construction support for specialized and novel equipment like gloveboxes, furnaces, high vacuum systems, and metal casting/machining equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
  • Requires a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create design concepts using Pro/Engineer (CREO) CAD software and topology optimization software as appropriate.
  • Experience leading multi-discipline machine design efforts and producing build to print equipment fabrication packages is preferred as well as CREO parametric experience.
