Defining problems, conducting and narrowing research, analyzing criteria, finding and analyzing solutions, and making decisions; much of an engineer's time is spent on researching, locating, applying, and transferring information. This role involves creativity and innovation in assigned tasks and existing processes and/or products. Reliability is key to completing tasks as required by internal/external customer requirements. Communication internally within the department or with individuals directly associated with assigned tasks is essential, both verbally and in writing. Occasional travel may be required, mainly for training purposes, customer support, or trade shows. The engineer will take verbal and/or written directions on tasks, training, or department/company policies and provide verbal and or written results, summaries of tasks, or requests to various persons during the execution of tasks. The role requires producing the end product of requested tasks in the form of components, assemblies, drawings, data files, proposals, or reports. Responsibilities include collecting, interpreting, and clarifying customer requirements, modifying existing designs to meet customer-provided requirements, providing specific product sales support, establishing and improving product cost targets, evaluating product claims for both standard as well as modified designs, leading the introduction of standard products for distribution and manufacturing, leading projects or portions of projects, providing training to engineers, and providing product assistance to manufacturing as requested. Daily activities will be recorded, and tasks will be assigned for training and development purposes. Other duties may be assigned to support company goals.
