About The Position

North Coast Container is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to optimize manufacturing operations. This role involves designing, improving, and maintaining manufacturing equipment and production systems, with a focus on conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and automated machinery. The Mechanical Engineer will lead projects aimed at enhancing safety, productivity, quality, and cost reduction, analyze equipment performance to improve uptime and reliability, and collaborate with various teams to solve technical challenges. Responsibilities also include managing capital improvement projects, developing preventive maintenance strategies, identifying automation opportunities, supporting root cause analysis, and maintaining engineering documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and industrial machinery
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing engineering projects and working cross-functionally
  • Proficiency with CAD software and engineering design principles
  • Knowledge of machine safety standards and manufacturing best practices

  • Experience in metal fabrication, packaging, steel, automotive, or other high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Continuous Improvement (CI) experience
  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation
  • Project management experience
  • Spanish language skills
  • Experience with reliability engineering, preventive maintenance, or TPM initiatives

  • Maintaining engineering documentation, drawings, and specifications
