About The Position

Barr is seeking a dust collection or industrial HVAC engineer to join our team. In this hybrid role, you will support the Engineering and Design business unit, working with multidisciplinary project teams to serve clients at heavy industrial facilities by providing engineering design and consulting services. Primary responsibilities include the design and evaluation of dust collection, industrial HVAC, and ventilation systems. Heavy industrial projects may include mining, power generation, or manufacturing facilities. A successful candidate will have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. The role requires a flexible working style and the ability to occasionally adjust work schedules to meet project deadlines and client needs. The candidate will collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams, demonstrate initiative, and possess strong project planning, organization, and management skills while delivering practical, technically sound engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Willingness and ability to regularly travel.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office software, and computer simulation modeling.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or the ability to obtain within one year.
  • Proven experience involving dust collection, industrial HVAC, and/or other relevant mechanical systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work cooperatively in a project team environment that encourages self-initiative.
  • Demonstrated project organization and management skills.
  • Flexible working style as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs.
  • Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Design and evaluation of dust collection, industrial HVAC, and ventilation systems for heavy industrial facilities.
  • Technical knowledge in industrial HVAC, ventilation, and dust collection system design.
  • Airflow and ductwork design.
  • Fan, filter, and air pollution control equipment selection.
  • Preparation of design and construction drawings and specifications.
  • Engineering calculations and analyses, including airflow, pressure loss, and system balancing.
  • Plant layout and equipment integration.
  • Technical report writing.
  • Preparation of system arrangement sketches and design details.
  • Preparation of cost estimates and bid packages.
  • Planning, coordinating, and executing projects.
  • Ensuring project milestones are met and providing regular updates to team members and clients.
  • Site inspections, system evaluations, and construction observation.
  • Serving as lead mechanical engineer or project manager for large capital projects within industrial facilities.
