About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer I–IV position is based onsite in Hillsboro, Oregon, and supports the business objectives of Hitachi High-Tech America’s Semiconductor Equipment Division. The role supports operational activities for the Hillsboro cleanroom and laboratories, which house failure analysis and process engineering teams. Its focus is managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, controls, and process gas systems. At levels I–III, the engineer works under close direction and follows detailed instructions and established procedures to install, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory and facility equipment. The role supports safe, reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally sound operations; resolves routine reliability issues; maintains spare parts support; contributes to small projects; and identifies improvements to equipment, systems, and procedures. The engineer collaborates with teammates, internal customers, vendors, contractors, and project teams, and prepares technical reports and communicates results. The position participates in an after-hours on-call rotation for critical systems. At level IV, the engineer works with greater autonomy, determines methods for new assignments, resolves complex and non-standard issues, and applies advanced expertise across multiple systems. Level IV responsibilities also include leading projects and project teams, mentoring and training others, managing inventory and reliability risks, developing and implementing operational improvements, and creating procedures and best-known methods for new operations.
