This role directs and coordinates fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance and repair of mechanical or electromechanical machines, equipment, tools, engines and systems. The position ensures that quality levels and industry standards are maintained or improved in the manufacturing process. The role also oversees installation, operation, maintenance and repair of equipment such as centralized heat, gas, water and steam systems. The Mechanical Engineer evaluates mechanical products to determine their cost effectiveness and efficiency and may evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
