About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is growing and our Western Canadian Engineering group is seeking Mechanical Engineers to join our growing team in Winnipeg. Our engineers support the execution of a wide variety of projects by providing technical expertise and support for business development activities. Technical knowledge of mechanical systems in buildings, rail and transportation, industrial, or nuclear environments will set you apart. Our Engineering Services teams are located in Calgary, Winnipeg, and Vancouver and they are dynamic and tight-knit community of professionals, servicing local projects while contributing to large national and international projects as part of distributed virtual project teams. Our projects are varied and span Healthcare, National Defense, Light + Heavy Industrial, Transportation (Rail + Transit, Ports + Marines +Tunnels), Municipal, Federal (including Defense + Nuclear), and Institutional industries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registered as either an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) with your local provincial engineering association, and willing to become a member in other provinces.
  • Minimum 3 years’ of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering consulting with progressive responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and relevant industry standards.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong business acumen and client facing skills.
  • Demonstrable experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with clients (i.e. understanding client objectives, anticipating and meeting client needs, and growing our business).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP designation or CAPM certification is an asset.
  • Candidates with experience in any of the following: HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, pressure vessels, tank design, piping systems, materials handling systems, process equipment, steam systems, compressed air system, utilities, potable water, light rail systems, sanitary systems, medical gases, nuclear facilities, chemical plans, refineries, mining, mineral processing, health care, defense, or any other industry described above are encouraged to apply highlighting their specific area of expertise or interest.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of a registered engineer, perform tasks related to mechanical systems design for design mandates of various complexity.
  • Support mechanical engineering design deliverables for assigned projects, including investigations, report writing, design and construction administration tasks under the direction of a registered engineer of record.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency, accuracy, and neatness of mechanical engineering deliverables as part of corporate QA/QC program.
  • Perform site investigations safely including travelling to site (including driving), walking around construction sites, carrying a ladder or other items (approximately 35lbs) around site and climbing ladder to access ceiling space, lowering self to observe mechanical systems low to ground, and committing to safety regulations and requirements.
  • Use software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office to prepare deliverables as required.
  • Review, understand and clearly communicate all relevant client requirements, provide design solutions and recommendations to match those requirements.
