Optikos, LLC.Wakefield, MA
$90,000 - $105,000Onsite

About The Position

Optikos is seeking an early-career Mechanical Engineer to join our product design team. In this role, you will support the creation of complex, high-precision electro-mechanical systems from initial concept through production. You will work collaboratively across engineering, manufacturing, and product teams to help build robust, reliable products. This position is ideal for a creative, hands-on mechanical engineer who is eager to learn and enjoys mechanical design, motion control, and mechatronic integration in an environment where your contributions have significant impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of mechanical engineering design experience, with a solid foundation in mechanical design principles.
  • Demonstrated experience using SolidWorks to design and create detailed part and assembly drawings.
  • Strong mechanical intuition, eagerness to learn, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving and lab testing.
  • Effective communication skills with the capability to work within an interdisciplinary team of engineers.
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • US citizenship or permanent residency visa required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with precision engineering, motion control systems, and/or mechatronics.
  • Exposure to optics, optical alignment and opto-mechanical integration.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the mechanical design and architecture for new products, helping conceptualize and develop components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Support the design of precision mechanisms, motion control systems, and integrated electro-mechanical architectures.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical, optical, and manufacturing teams to ensure system-level compatibility and performance.
  • Participate in hands-on prototype builds, fixture design, test planning, and iterative troubleshooting in the lab.
  • Assist in evaluating materials, manufacturing methods, and vendor capabilities to optimize performance, cost, and precision.
  • Apply mechanical design best practices, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and basic structural/thermal analysis.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation packages
