About The Position

SpecSys is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to complete mechanical design work for mobile equipment, including structural, fluid power, and powertrain systems. This role involves component selection, CAD design, analysis (including FEA), creating detailed bills of materials (BOMs), and preparing Operator and User Manuals. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with other SpecSys engineering disciplines, manufacturing, and project managers to ensure projects are completed On Time, On Budget, Done Right, and Done Safely.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to interact at a management level with Mfg Operations, Sales, Clients, and Quality.
  • BS or MS Degree in agriculture, mechanical, electrical or aerospace engineering disciplines.
  • 1+ years of proven project experience.
  • Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance.

Responsibilities

  • Complete mechanical design work for mobile equipment that includes structural, fluid power, and powertrain systems.
  • Perform component selection.
  • Perform CAD design work.
  • Perform analysis, including FEA.
  • Create detailed bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Prepare Operator and User Manuals.
  • Collaborate with other SpecSys engineering disciplines and manufacturing along with project managers to ensure the On Time - On Budget - Done Right - Done Safely aspects of the project assigned.
  • Verify the design meets performance and configuration specifications.
  • Contract management to verify the project is completed on time and on budget.
  • Customer management to understand expectations and standards.
  • Provide work instructions for designers and drafters.
  • Coordinate resources of project teams.
  • Develop and update project timelines.
  • Develop design concepts to perform project function and facilitate reviews.
  • Develop scope of work projections.
  • Perform engineering calculations to verify compliance with design requirements.
  • Provide technical data to the client, designers, and drafters.
  • Oversee and/or perform FEA analysis to verify structural integrity.
  • Direct preparation of FEA reports for the customer.
  • Prepare project review booklets and present to the customer.
  • Specify and source purchase components to be used.
  • Specify materials to be used in design.
  • Work on multiple CAD packages.
  • Review CAD models for completeness, interferences, and manufacturability.
  • Review detail drawings for completeness, accuracy, and client standards.
  • Review and update model and drawing tolerances.
  • Generate and review Bill of Materials for completeness.
  • Update and track action / issue items.
