About The Position

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Communications & Cyber Security division in Pullman, WA. This role involves performing mechanical engineering functions such as assembly design, plastic and metal part design, tolerance studies, design for manufacturability/assembly, component selection and specification, thermal analysis and design, and mechanical shock and vibration analysis. The engineer will also qualify and monitor component and custom part vendors, generate and maintain accurate bills of materials, provide labor and material estimates under supervision, and review and support documentation, mechanical designs, and manufacturing process design. Additionally, the role includes writing test plans, conducting design tests, and reviewing results, as well as maintaining current and accurate project notebooks.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • Education/experience in heat transfer
  • Education/experience in computer-aided design
  • Education/experience in materials and mechanics
  • Education/experience in part and assembly design
  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills

Nice To Haves

  • Education/experience in electromechanical packaging design
  • Education/experience in electronic manufacturing techniques
  • SolidWorks experience
  • Environmental testing experience
