About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer will manage multiple genset projects from design through production, supporting drawings, technical decisions, and execution. This role is hands-on and closely tied to the shop—designing solutions, resolving issues, and keeping work moving. You’ll work directly with production to troubleshoot build issues, answer technical questions, and support on-time delivery. The role also provides practical engineering support to sales, field service, and customers to ensure packaged systems meet application and performance requirements. Close collaboration with operations, supply chain, quality and customers is required to fully understand each project and deliver solutions that function in the real world—not just on paper.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the engine and power generation industry or in closely a related technology field.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or Inventor (or similar CAD package)
  • Experience with CAT ET, CAT monitoring software, SIS web, and TMI is required.
  • Must have a clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle will be performed on final candidate).

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. in Engineering
  • Previous direct management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of diesel and natural gas generator sets is preferred.
  • Understanding of applicable codes, NFPA, NEMA, NEC
  • Basic knowledge of paralleling switchgear, generator set remote fuel system and remote cooling system is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, validate products and applications for generator set packages.
  • Review project documents for compliance with project requirements/specification.
  • Provide engineering support to field service technicians and sales personnel as necessary.
  • Provide application support to customers and engineers when needed.
  • Provide support to the production shop to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Prepare project submittals as required per specs for equipment approval and subsequent release.
  • Assist sales team with providing accurate quotes.
  • Design and evaluate custom components or systems for unique customer applications.
  • Ensure projects stay on schedule and leave a satisfied customer/end user
  • Additional responsibilities and functions may be needed to meet customer and organizational needs.
