Join a collaborative engineering team focused on developing and optimizing test fixtures and stations that enable production of Ciena’s cutting-edge, vertically integrated Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) products. Working in a collaborative environment, you will have direct interactions with managers, engineers, and technicians across multiple R&D functions, fostering close teamwork and shared ownership of results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficient with CAD software, preferably Creo or Solidworks.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with lab measurement techniques and test equipment.
  • Ability to create test scripts for data collection and analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Thermal simulation experience, preferably with Ansys considered an asset.
  • Cleanroom lab experience is an asset.
  • Experience in the design of plastic components (injection molding) and metal components (sheet metal, machined, die cast).

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical fixtures and test stations to enable PIC testing and assembly.
  • Optimize mechanical designs to support production requirements for PIC products.
  • Operate within cleanroom environments while maintaining established cleanliness protocols.
  • Ensure process integrity during testing and assembly activities.
  • Create detailed documentation for mechanical fixtures, assemblies, and station layouts.
  • Document testing methods to promote reproducibility and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Collaborate with managers, engineers, and technicians across multiple R&D functions.
