About The Position

Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to play a crucial role in engineering and technology projects from concept through prototype validation to production ramp-up, collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role involves leveraging expertise in thermo-mechanical design, electromechanical components, materials, and fabrication practices to deliver durable, efficient, and innovative solutions. A key responsibility includes providing support to manufacturing, sales, and customers, ensuring timely technical input to secure new business opportunities and strengthen client relationships.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required; MS preferred.
  • 7–10 years of experience in power electronics packaging and electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Ansys, or similar CAD/FEA tools.
  • Strong knowledge of electromechanical components and mechanical housing fabrication (sheet metal, weldments, fasteners); casting and plastic molding experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and BOM management.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to distill complex technical topics into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Energetic, adaptable, and self-motivated problem solver.

Nice To Haves

  • MS preferred.
  • casting and plastic molding experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and packaging of Spellman products.
  • Participate in design reviews, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure fit, function, and compliance.
  • Create and validate designs using CAD and analysis tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Ansys).
  • Perform engineering calculations for mechanical and thermal stresses.
  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality to optimize design for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability (DFX principles).
  • Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation, including 2D/3D drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
  • Support continuous improvement and upgrades to existing product lines.
  • Mentor and support Mechanical Engineers during new product development projects.
